Fieldwork in China: Education, Community & Conservation
MIndy Bao, summary 2026
During summer 2026, I traveled through China exploring education, opportunity, and conservation. These two short films capture the conversations and experiences that changed how I understood those questions. They also became part of my work with Roots & Reach, a student-led nonprofit connecting young people with service, teaching, and conservation opportunities.

What Keeps It Alive
A personal exploration of conservation through conversations and observations in Guilin, Shenshuping, Leshan, and Dujiangyan, asking how people, culture, adaptation, and nature shape what survives.
